SUSAN SAINT JAMES' REPRESENTATIVE CONFIRMS HER DEATH

Susan Saint James died on Monday, 26 October 2026, after a pancreatic cancer diagnosis, her representative said. Her family recalled how she supported relatives after her youngest son, Teddy Ebersol, died in a plane crash. The private aircraft crashed in Colorado on 28 November 2004. Teddy's father, television executive Dick Ebersol, and his brother Charlie survived. Saint James addressed her husband and surviving children individually at Teddy's memorial, according to her family.

The family called the eulogy one of Saint James' most meaningful acts. “Even in the deepest grief of her life, she put everyone else first,” the family said. Relatives also recalled that “she never met a stranger” and said she made time for people regardless of their circumstances. Days after the crash, Saint James appeared with family friend Tim Russert on Today and thanked people for their support. Her television career included roles in The Name of the Game and Kate & Allie.

Saint James later supported other bereaved parents, including Lynn McDonnell, whose daughter Grace died in the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. Saint James and McDonnell developed a friendship through regular conversations about grief and loss. Her family cited that support as part of how they remembered her beyond her work in television. Saint James won an Emmy during a career that began its breakthrough with The Name of the Game in 1968. She also worked alongside Rock Hudson and Jane Curtin.
