LOUIS WALSH PREDICTS RONAN KEATING WILL HAVE NO FURTHER HITS

WED 28 OCT 2026

Louis Walsh said Ronan Keating would “never have another hit” during an appearance on The Big Interview with Collette Fitzpatrick. Walsh claimed Keating had not had a hit since they stopped working together and said he no longer had a record deal. He also said Keating was singing his older songs. Accounts identify different broadcasters for the interview: Virgin Media and RTÉ One.

Walsh managed Boyzone, whose members included Keating, Stephen Gately, Mikey Graham, Keith Duffy and Shane Lynch. The group had three number-one albums before Keating pursued a solo career in 1999. Keating later had hits including Life Is A Rollercoaster and When You Say Nothing At All. Walsh said he chose Boyzone’s songs and claimed responsibility for much of the work behind the group’s success. He previously called Keating “talentless and spoiled” in 2012.

Walsh said Keating had been “great to work with” and the most ambitious member of Boyzone. He said their relationship changed after Keating told him at the Four Seasons that he did not want to be a karaoke artist any more. Walsh said he would take a call from Keating, describing their split as “a bad divorce”. He said Keating would always have work and suggested he could be a DJ, actor or dancer.
