OWNERS LIST GOODWIN'S COURT HOUSE FOR £1.595M
The owners of Number 1 Goodwin's Court in Covent Garden, central London, have relisted the house for £1,595,000. The Unique Property Company says the street may have inspired Diagon Alley in the Harry Potter series. The estate agency also suggests Goodwin's Court may have influenced the depiction of Knockturn Alley. The owners first offered the house for £2 million towards the end of 2025, then withdrew it because of market conditions before relisting it last month.
The house dates from around 1700, shortly after the Great Fire of London, according to the property details. It began life as a haberdashery. Four weathered stone steps lead to its black front door. A gas lamp stands above the entrance, and the estate agency describes it as one of the last remaining in London.
The Unique Property Company says Harry Potter fans visit Goodwin's Court from around the world. It says themed walking tours include the street on their daily routes. In its listing, the agency calls Number 1 “a rare survivor of a building type reflecting the conditions of London's Georgian working-classes”. The listing also calls the house “a living piece of London's rich history” and links it to Ollivanders Wand Shop in the Harry Potter films.
