Actor Alan Dysert, who played Sean Cudahy in All My Children, died on 23 October 2026, according to his wife, Michele. She announced his death in a Facebook post on 25 October. “My heart is broken as I share that my beloved husband, Alan, passed away on October 23, 2026,” she wrote. Dysert is survived by Michele and his sons, Cody and Cooper. His family has not disclosed a cause of death.

Dysert wrote about his health in his 2023 autobiography, Lights, Camera, Cancer!: A Farm Boy’s Journey From Soap Opera Bad Boy To Cancer Survivor. He said he had received a diagnosis of a rare, aggressive and incurable cancer. His account described four major cancer-related surgeries, a recurrence, chemotherapy and 29 CT scans. In her tribute, Michele called their relationship “the love of a lifetime” and recalled his humour, adventurous spirit and storytelling.

Dysert appeared in All My Children during the 1980s and returned as Sean Cudahy in 1990. His other screen credits included Soap in 1978, Two Weeks, which starred Sally Field, and The Grift. In his memoir, he traced his journey from a farm in Illinois to daytime television. Before establishing his acting career, he studied at the University of Illinois, worked in real estate and explored stand-up comedy.
