BARKING TOWER BLOCK FALL KILLS FOUR-YEAR-OLD GIRL
A four-year-old girl died after falling from a tower block on St Paul’s Road in Barking, east London, on Saturday, according to the Metropolitan Police. Officers received a report of a child falling from height at an address there at 11am on 24 October. Police and the London Ambulance Service attended, and emergency workers gave the girl first aid at the scene. Paramedics took her to hospital, where she died from her injuries, the police said.
The London Ambulance Service said it received a call at 11.05am and sent ambulance crews, a clinical team manager, an incident response officer and an advanced paramedic practitioner. London’s air ambulance also attended, according to the service. The ambulance service said its teams treated the child before taking her to a London major trauma centre. The police said they did not believe the fall was suspicious.
The Metropolitan Police said an investigation into the circumstances of the fall remained under way. Officers had made no arrests, the force said. The police expressed sympathy for the girl’s family and loved ones. The force appealed for information: ‘We urge anyone with information about the incident, to contact police on 101, quoting CAD 2424/24OCT.’
