Police in Huntersville, North Carolina, arrested Rod Moskowitz after an encounter involving his SUV and an officer on Thursday, 22 October, according to an arrest affidavit. Moskowitz faces a charge of assault with a deadly weapon on a government official. The affidavit alleges that the officer stepped out of the SUV’s path three times to avoid being hit. Officers had gone to Cramur Drive in response to a civil disturbance. They removed Moskowitz from the vehicle and took him into custody, according to the affidavit.

The affidavit identifies the SUV as a 2023 Toyota Sequoia and says Moskowitz drove into a ditch before reversing into a residential driveway. It says an officer waved his hands in Moskowitz’s view and struck the vehicle with his hand while trying to stop it. Joe Bruno reported that authorities initially held Moskowitz without bond at Mecklenburg County jail. Bruno wrote on X: “Judge Roderick Davis has now set Moskowitz’s bond at $1,000 secured.” Moskowitz spent two nights in custody.

Moskowitz is chief executive of PROSPORT Management and heads its racing division. The business represents NASCAR drivers Denny Hamlin, Chase Elliott, Kyle Larson, Bubba Wallace, William Byron, Tyler Reddick and Corey Heim. Moskowitz spent 11 years with Motorsports Management International. In 2011, he launched Fuel Sports Management Group with former Ray Evernham Motorsports executives Rick Russell and David Jessey.
