ST MIRREN BEAT DUNDEE TO END FIVE-MATCH LOSING RUN
St Mirren beat Dundee 2-1 at the Marbill Coaches Stadium in Paisley, ending a run of five consecutive defeats. Calvin Ramsay put the hosts ahead in the 20th minute after Eseosa Sule broke down the right and crossed into his path. Dundee goalkeeper Owen Goodman blocked Ramsay’s shot but could not keep it out. Sule doubled St Mirren’s lead in the 57th minute, heading in a cross from Killian Phillips near the six-yard box. Bradley Fink pulled a goal back for Dundee in the 73rd minute after St Mirren goalkeeper Jacob Chapman saved his first attempt.
St Mirren played at home for the first time in more than a month. Dundee arrived after a 2-2 draw with Rangers. Craig McLeish brought Harry Fieldson into St Mirren’s starting side in place of Paul Nsio following a 3-1 defeat at Aberdeen’s Pittodrie ground. Steven Pressley kept the Dundee starting eleven that had faced Rangers. Ismeal Kabia tested Goodman with a shot from the edge of the box in the opening stages.
Ramsay’s goal was his first since joining St Mirren on loan in the summer. He later met a free-kick with a header that Goodman caught, then dropped before Dundee cleared the ball. Ashley Hay headed narrowly wide from close range as Dundee sought a way back after Sule’s goal. Dundee pressed after Fink scored but could not find an equaliser.
