ANIKA RASHAUN DIES FOLLOWING BREAST CANCER DIAGNOSIS

Anika Rashaun, who appeared on MTV’s The Real World and The Challenge, died on 1 October, according to a tribute by her friend Tiara Ramos. Rashaun had received a stage four breast cancer diagnosis about a year earlier. Ramos published her tribute on Substack in the weeks before Rashaun’s birthday. She wrote that Rashaun was “fiercely loyal and loving to the end.”

Rashaun made her MTV debut in 2016 on The Real World Seattle: Bad Blood, the programme’s 32nd season. Will Groomes, her former boyfriend of three years, appeared as her “bad blood” on the series. She joined The Challenge: Invasion of the Champions in 2017 and left in its third episode. Ramos recalled Rashaun moving to Thailand without knowing anyone there and later starting her own business. Her tribute also described Rashaun skydiving with a man on a first date.

Friends posted messages on Rashaun’s social media accounts after her death, including comments on a November 2025 post showing engagement photographs with Kyle. Others marked her birthday with tributes on Facebook. One friend wrote that they would treasure 16 years of memories with Rashaun. Ramos wrote of her friend’s determination: “Her ability to get what she wanted, to talk you into things, to convince you, was one of a kind.”
