CAR CRASHES INTO WOLVERHAMPTON LIDL STORE, KILLING MAN
A man died after a car crashed into the front of a Lidl store on Finchfield Hill in Wolverhampton shortly before 6pm on Friday, West Midlands Police said. Emergency services attended the store on 23 October. Police said crews pronounced the man dead at the scene. Several other people received treatment for injuries there, according to the force. Officers said they did not regard the death as suspicious.
A woman behind the wheel was said to have suffered a medical incident, but West Midlands Police did not specify a cause for the crash in its statement. Police officers remained at the store with fire and ambulance crews while the services carried out enquiries. The force said a nearby road was likely to remain closed for some time. It advised drivers to take alternative routes around Finchfield Hill.
Police did not identify the man in the statement. The force gave no details of the injuries sustained by the other people treated at the scene. A spokesperson said: “Anyone with more information can call 101 quoting log 4069 of 23 October.” The spokesperson also said the force’s thoughts were with the man’s family.
