GARY WILMOT ANNOUNCES DIVORCE FROM SARA HILL
Gary Wilmot has said he is divorcing Sara Hill, his third wife, after 23 years of marriage. The actor and musical theatre performer said he had moved out of the home they shared and now lives alone in a flat. “I'm getting a divorce - at 72,” Wilmot said. “When I was a child, 60 was very old, but now it seems you can go on forever.” He said no one else was involved and described the divorce as difficult, but said he believed it was the right decision for them both.
Wilmot and Hill met in 2000 while appearing together in a production of Pirates of Penzance. They married three years later and previously attended West End parties together. Wilmot said he no longer attended many such events. “The thing is, people change,” he said, adding that Hill understood this. He said he was happy living on his own and felt 50.
Wilmot has two daughters, Katie and Georgie, with his first wife, Carol. After that marriage ended, he married Joanne before marrying Hill. Wilmot said longer lives could involve more phases and suggested that more older people were getting divorced. He said he had no plans to slow down his career.
