POLICE ARREST BUS DRIVER AFTER BRISTOL PEDESTRIAN AND DOG DIE
Avon and Somerset Police said a bus struck a pedestrian and his dog in Bristol on Thursday night. The collision happened at the junction of Stockwood Lane and Hollway Road at around 11.10pm on 22 October. Police said the pedestrian suffered critical injuries and died at the scene. His dog also died, and officers arrested the bus driver after the collision.
Police closed the road around the junction while officers carried out enquiries at the scene. The force said the road reopened after officers completed that work. Officers have informed the pedestrian’s next of kin, but formal identification has yet to take place. A specialist family liaison officer is supporting the family, according to police. Emergency services attended the scene after officers received a call about the collision.
“We are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage,” Avon and Somerset Police said. Police also asked anyone with relevant CCTV footage to come forward. Anyone with information can contact the force on 101 and quote reference number 5226345957. The force said people could also contact it online. The driver remained in custody while officers continued their investigation.
