COURT JAILS KRISTIAN PARRY FOR FAKING NURSERY REFERENCES

SAT 24 OCT 2026 CRIME

Leeds Crown Court sentenced Kristian Parry to a further two years in prison on 23 October for using false references to get a nursery job. Parry admitted fraud by false representation after applying to another Leeds nursery following his arrest for possessing indecent images of children. The court heard that he created fictitious email addresses to send the references. Judge Crowson told Parry: “If the truth had been known, you would have never been allowed in the building.”

Police arrested Parry in May 2025 while he worked at a Leeds nursery. Officers found thousands of indecent and prohibited images and videos on his phone; the court heard that he possessed more than 5,000 images. None of the images involved children in his care. In March, the court jailed him for the images offences and an earlier fraud offence that also involved false job references. His original two-year sentence was later increased by one year and eight months after a court ruled it unduly lenient.

Prosecutor Carmel Pearson said the second nursery ran an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check but gave Parry the job. She said the nursery dismissed him after his three-month probationary period because of problems with his attendance and behaviour. Pearson put the nursery’s losses at about £20,000, including Parry’s wages and the cost of additional safeguarding measures. West Yorkshire Police said it had contacted the Home Office about the DBS update service following concerns about the check. The court had also issued Parry with a 10-year sexual harm prevention order for the images offences.
