MANCHESTER UNITED SEEKS FANS' VIEWS ON STADIUM DESIGN
Manchester United has launched a supporter survey on its proposed 100,000-seat stadium to replace Old Trafford. The club is seeking views before it decides on a final design. It has also invited supporters to focus groups to test emerging ideas and check whether it has interpreted their views accurately. The proposed £2bn ground is intended to become the largest stadium in the UK.
The survey covers the matchday experience, the club’s heritage, stadium atmosphere, the wider site and journeys to the ground. Images released in March 2025 showed a tent-like structure with three large supports inspired by the trident on Manchester United’s badge. The club says those images showed a concept, and its plans remain under development. Some supporters have questioned whether a new ground would preserve the history and identity of Old Trafford, where Manchester United has played for 115 years.
Collette Roche, Manchester United’s chief executive of New Stadium Development, said: “Our proposed new stadium is one of the most significant projects Manchester United will undertake in the next 100 years, and it is vital that we shape it together with our fans.” She said the consultation would help inform decisions on affordability and accessibility as well as atmosphere. The club plans to send the survey to season ticket holders, cup season ticket holders, executive members and official members. Supporters who bought hospitality within the past three years will also receive it.
