VINCENT KOMPANY RECEIVES HOSPITAL CARE AFTER TRAINING GROUND COLLAPSE

SAT 24 OCT 2026

Bayern Munich said Vincent Kompany collapsed on Friday while watching the club’s second team train at its Säbener Strasse ground. A rescue helicopter landed at the training ground, but an ambulance took the first-team head coach to a Munich hospital. Bayern said doctors were conducting thorough examinations and Kompany would remain “under medical supervision”. The club said its coaching staff would take charge of training and matchday operations until further notice.

Kompany had experienced leg pain linked to a viral infection since the previous week and had difficulty climbing stairs. He showed symptoms on Saturday, when Bayern beat RB Leipzig 6-1 at the Allianz Arena. Kompany lay on a sofa during half-time and after the match, then left post-match media duties to his assistants. He missed training on Monday to visit doctors but completed Tuesday’s final session before Bayern’s Champions League match against Arsenal.

Assistant Aaron Danks took Kompany’s place at the pre-match press conference before Wednesday’s game. Bayern and Arsenal drew 2-2 in Munich, where Kompany faced Mikel Arteta, who had previously coached him at Manchester City. Kompany had also managed Burnley and Anderlecht before taking charge at Bayern. Bayern gave no date for his return to coaching duties.
