AUCTION HOUSE LISTS VICAR OF DIBLEY COTTAGE FOR £375,000
Town & Country North West has listed Church Cottage in Turville, Buckinghamshire, for auction with bids starting at £375,000. The Grade II-listed property stands beside the cottage whose front door appeared in the BBC comedy The Vicar of Dibley. Filming also used wider shots that included both cottages to represent the home of Geraldine Granger, played by Dawn French. The Liverpool-based auction house has scheduled the sale for 12 November.
Church Cottage has two bedrooms, one bathroom and a rear garden with parking, according to the listing. The auction house describes the brick and flint building as a 17th-century timber-frame cottage that has undergone some updating and would benefit from further renovation. Its description says: “A generous rear garden includes parking and a former lean-to car port.” The front approach runs through the grounds of St Mary the Virgin Church, which appeared as St Barnabas Church in the programme.
The Vicar of Dibley ran from 1994 to 2000 and returned for several specials. Production crews filmed its interior scenes at another property. Turville also appeared in Goodnight Mister Tom and Midsomer Murders. Savills previously listed Church Cottage in 2022 with a guide price of £900,000.
