GIANTS RULE OUT TREMAINE EDMUNDS WITH SHOULDER INJURY
The New York Giants ruled out linebacker Tremaine Edmunds for Sunday’s Week 7 game against the Houston Texans because of a shoulder injury. Dan Duggan reported that the injury is expected to keep Edmunds out for the rest of the season. Edmunds hurt his shoulder on the final defensive play of the Giants’ Week 6 game against the New Orleans Saints. He had played every defensive snap for New York during its first six games.
Edmunds joined the Giants in the offseason. Recorded statistics credit him with 50 tackles and two sacks in his first six games for the team. Edmunds also relayed defensive calls from the middle of the field. John Harbaugh has said the Giants have “three starting inside linebackers”, and Micah McFadden is expected to replace Edmunds in the starting line-up alongside Arvell Reese. McFadden started games for New York in each of the previous two seasons. The Giants have also lost Jaxson Dart and Brian Burns to season-ending injuries.
The Giants ruled out cornerback Greg Newsome for the Texans game because of a concussion. They listed tight end Theo Johnson as doubtful with a neck injury. Cornerback Paulson Adebo and offensive lineman Marcus Mbow are questionable with knee injuries. Right tackle Jermaine Eluemunor is questionable with a calf injury, while safety Jevon Holland is questionable with a concussion. Safety Tyler Nubin is also questionable because of a neck injury.
