ANDRE ONANA ESCAPES INJURY IN TURKEY CRASH

SAT 24 OCT 2026 FOOTBALL

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana was involved in a multi-vehicle crash near Trabzon, Turkey, while driving home with his family after a match. Another vehicle reportedly struck his £100,000 Hongqi E-HS9 from behind at speed, pushing it into the car ahead. Emergency services attended the crash on the Yomra road. Onana went to hospital for checks and left soon afterwards. Trabzonspor president Ertugrul Dogan told local media: “There are no problems with him, and we wish him a speedy recovery.”

Onana kept a clean sheet as Trabzonspor beat Hearts 2-0 in the Uefa Conference League on Thursday night. The Cameroon international is on loan to Trabzonspor from Manchester United. Images from the scene appeared to show damage to the front wing of his car and debris on the road. Onana has kept clean sheets in four of his last five games for the Turkish club. Trabzonspor agreed a further one-year loan for him in July after his first season-long loan began in 2025.

Manchester United paid Inter Milan £43.8 million for Onana in 2023. He helped United win the 2024 FA Cup and has made 102 appearances for the club. Onana has won 53 caps for Cameroon. His contract with United runs until 2028. His form at Trabzonspor has drawn interest from Galatasaray.
