BRITISH COUPLE BANNED FROM CHILDREN AFTER LEAVING THEM AT SPANISH HOTEL
A British couple have been sentenced by a Spanish court for leaving three young children unattended at a hotel in Benalmadena. The children, aged six months, one year and four years, were discovered alone at the Holiday World Resort on the Costa del Sol. The court imposed prison sentences of one year and four months on each parent, which were automatically suspended under a plea bargain arrangement. The couple also received a two-year ban from contact with their children.
The pair, a man aged 41 and a woman aged 28, were arrested after leaving to go out. Court No. 3 of the Investigating Division of the Court of First Instance of Torremolinos delivered the sentence for the offence of child abandonment. Both parents admitted their crime as part of the agreed settlement. The children were subsequently taken into care by authorities following their discovery.
The sentence was reached through a plea bargain deal, meaning the couple did not proceed to trial. Andalucia's High Court of Justice confirmed the ruling. The case remains the subject of unconfirmed reports regarding additional matters, though authorities have not provided further comment on those claims.
