ENTRUST WINS DONCASTER NOVICE STAKES

SAT 24 OCT 2026 HORSE RACING

Entrust won the British Stallion Studs EBF Novice Stakes on his debut at Doncaster on Friday. The two-year-old colt is the first of Enable’s offspring to race. Colin Keane rode Entrust to a two-and-three-quarter-length victory over runner-up Zajal on heavy ground. John and Thady Gosden trained the colt, whom Juddmonte bred and owns. Entrust started at 3-1 and took the lead in the final furlong.

Entrust is by Dubawi out of Enable, who won the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe twice and the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes three times. Enable’s racing record lists 15 wins from 19 starts, including 11 Group 1 victories. She also won the Oaks, Eclipse Stakes and Breeders’ Cup Turf. Frankie Dettori rode her to 14 victories. Enable retired in 2020 with recorded earnings of £10.7 million after finishing sixth in her fourth Arc appearance.

Prices for next year’s Betfred Derby ranged from 16-1 to 20-1, with Sky Bet and Paddy Power quoting 20-1. Keane said Entrust left the stalls slowly and that he had avoided giving him too hard a race. Keane said Zajal gave Entrust a target and described the colt as having “a lot of raw ability”. Thady Gosden said Entrust had taken time to develop and handled his first visit to Doncaster well. “He’s won here today and we will put him away for next year,” Gosden said.
