BRANDON WILLIAMS JOINS ROTHERHAM UNITED
Rotherham United have signed former Manchester United defender Brandon Williams on a short-term deal, the League Two club said. His contract runs until 23 January 2027 after a trial that began in pre-season. Rotherham said Williams trained at its Roundwood base through late October and showed his fitness to Steve McClaren, head coach Alex Bruce and other staff. Williams will wear the number 33 shirt.
Williams had been without a club since leaving Hull City in February. He came through Manchester United’s academy and made his first-team debut against Rochdale in September 2019. He made 51 first-team appearances for United and scored one goal. Williams also had loan spells at Norwich and Ipswich before leaving United as a free agent in the summer of 2024.
The move follows Williams’s dangerous driving conviction. Bruce said Williams had trained with Rotherham without pay and had shown a desire to play. “I’m really pleased he’s a Rotherham player,” Bruce said, adding that Williams deserved the contract after working with the club since pre-season. Bruce, the son of former Manchester United defender Steve Bruce, said he wanted to give Williams an opportunity to restart his career.
