PAIGE CRISP RECEIVES 30-MONTH SENTENCE IN CANNABIS IMPORT CASE
Paige Crisp has been jailed for 30 months for her part in an attempt to bring cannabis from Thailand into the UK. Border Force stopped Crisp and ten other British travellers at Birmingham Airport on 9 August 2024. The National Crime Agency said officers found 460kg of cannabis across the group’s 22 suitcases. Authorities estimated the street value of the seized Class B drug at £13.8 million.
The group travelled through Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris, with each person carrying two large suitcases. They paid excess baggage charges at Bangkok Airport because of the cases’ weight. Officers found vacuum-packed cannabis beneath a thin layer of clothing in the luggage. Eight cases also contained Apple AirTag trackers linked to the same Apple ID. The National Crime Agency said four passengers travelling from Birmingham to Charles de Gaulle with two large suitcases each had raised suspicions.
Crisp, from Malvern in Worcestershire, was among the final three members of the group convicted at Birmingham Crown Court on 19 August. Tasia Nelson, of Newquay in Cornwall, and Jaden Ramen, of Merton in London, appeared alongside her. The court convicted Crisp of offences involving Class B drugs and intending to evade restrictions on their importation. The other members of the 11-person group have also been convicted.
