MET POLICE SAYS IT IS NOT INVESTIGATING THOMAS MARKLE
The Metropolitan Police said it is not investigating Thomas Markle following reports of an inquiry into allegations about child sexual abuse images. His son, Thomas Markle Jr, alleged that he found images of children in boxes at his father’s home in the Philippines. Thomas Markle Sr denied possessing the images and called his son’s accusations “sick lies”. Samantha Markle, his eldest daughter, also accused her brother of making up the claims.
Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, said: “I am deeply distressed at the news that has come to light in the last 24 hours, and my thoughts are with any children who may have been harmed.” She said someone had shown her a letter sent to the Metropolitan Police and Royalty and Specialist Protection in 2018. Meghan said she had received an assurance that officers were investigating the allegations in the letter. The nature of those allegations remains unclear.
The Metropolitan Police said it is making internal inquiries into the involvement of officers from its Royalty and Specialist Protection Command in passing the letter to Meghan. The command provides armed personal security to members of the royal family and secures official residences. The letter was shared with Meghan in the summer of 2018, after her wedding to Harry. It remains unclear whether its allegations relate to those Thomas Markle Jr raised in 2026.
