ARSENAL CONSIDERS JANUARY MOVE FOR ALEX BAENA
Arsenal are considering a January move for Atlético Madrid attacker Alex Baena, according to journalist Steve Kay. The club has revived its interest as it looks to strengthen its forward line. Arsenal also considered Baena’s Atlético teammate Julián Álvarez during the summer transfer window. Álvarez stayed at Atlético after the club refused to negotiate with Barcelona, which had made a formal offer for him.
Arsenal sold Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli during that window. Christos Tzolis was its only attacking arrival, while moves for Morgan Rogers and Vini Jr did not materialise. Bukayo Saka then suffered a thigh injury during a 2-2 draw with Bayern Munich. That left Noni Madueke, Eberechi Eze and Max Dowman as Arsenal’s available winger options, according to the account of its squad.
Arsenal have also asked the representatives of Eintracht Frankfurt forward Can Uzun about him. Uzun has a £52 million release clause, according to the transfer information. The same agency represents Nicolo Tresoldi, another forward Arsenal are considering. Club Brugge intend to keep Tresoldi through January and seek a club-record fee when they sell him, according to the account of the Belgian club’s plans.
