BURGLARS STEAL ITEMS FROM BRUNO FERNANDES’S CHESHIRE HOME
Cheshire Police said burglars stole several items from Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes’s home in Nether Alderley while he was in Italy for a match against Como. Officers were called after reports of three unknown men in the rear garden of the Cheshire property at about 8.30pm on Wednesday. They established that a burglary had taken place. Three suspects reportedly entered the property and left within minutes. Fernandes’s family were reportedly away from home at the time.
Como beat Manchester United 4-1 in their Champions League match. Cesc Fàbregas’s side faced United under head coach Michael Carrick. Fernandes spoke to the media afterwards about United’s approach to pressing. He said the coaching staff had decided against pressing man to man and leaving space behind to try to win the ball. He also said United were “not brave enough”.
Detectives are examining CCTV footage from the surrounding area as part of the burglary investigation. Fernandes said allowing opponents too much of the ball gave them confidence. “That’s on the manager and staff to see it, not me,” he said of the tactical decision. Cheshire Police said officers had found that items were missing after they responded to the call.
