BESIKTAS TOOK TWO EUROPA LEAGUE WINS INTO PALACE FIXTURE

Besiktas were scheduled to host Crystal Palace in Istanbul on 22 October in the Europa League. Besiktas entered the fixture with wins from their opening two matches in the competition. Their recorded results included seven goals across those games. Palace arrived after consecutive away defeats to Lyon and Brighton & Hove Albion. Lyon beat Palace 3-2, and Brighton followed with a 5-0 win.

Brighton led Palace 3-0 inside 10 minutes at the Amex Stadium. Palace had conceded eight goals across the Lyon and Brighton matches. Besiktas had recorded no draws in 16 matches that season. They had opened the scoring in each of their previous nine home matches across all competitions. Palace had conceded first in each of their previous three matches and in four of their five away matches.

The head-to-head record listed no previous meeting between Besiktas and Palace. Besiktas had won their previous four European home matches. A third win in their opening three matches in the main draw would have given Besiktas their first such run since 2017/18. Besiktas listed Milot Rashica, Orkun Kokcu and Vaclav Cerny as unavailable for the fixture. Palace listed Chadi Riad as a long-term absentee, while Dean Henderson and Takehiro Tomiyasu remained doubts.
