SAN DIEGO POLICE ARREST ABHISHEK SAREEN OVER CHILD ABUSE ALLEGATIONS

San Diego police arrested Abhishek Sareen over allegations of child sexual abuse at Lotus Learners Montessori School, an in-home childcare centre where he lived. Prosecutors allege he abused at least three girls there. Sareen was arrested on 12 felony counts, while the San Diego Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force said he pleaded not guilty to 19 felony charges on Thursday. The charges include offences involving child sexual abuse material. A court ordered Sareen held without bail.

The task force said it received online tips on Monday concerning suspected child sexual abuse material, after Google flagged material to police. Detectives searched the property on Korrey Drive that evening and said Sareen had regular access to an unknown number of children through the school. Police said no children were present when they arrested him. Investigators have identified two potential victims and contacted their families; they have yet to identify a third. Court records list alleged sexual offences against a child, lewd acts, possession of child sexual abuse material and using a minor in obscene material.

Police said investigators are reviewing evidence for additional potential victims and working to contact families whose children attended the school. The California Department of Social Services licensed the Korrey Drive facility in 2011. It recorded unannounced inspections in 2023 and January 2026, citing missing immunisation records during the latter visit. The school’s website lists three locations in San Diego, opened in 2011, 2012 and 2017. It describes Lotus Learners Montessori as “a family-run, home-based preschool in North County San Diego.”
