POLICE ARREST FOUR AFTER BOY IS SERIOUSLY INJURED IN EVERTON
Merseyside Police arrested two boys on suspicion of attempted murder after a boy suffered serious head and chest injuries in Everton on Wednesday. Officers were called to The Lutine Bell pub on Breck Road at about 14:15 BST following reports of an assault nearby. The injured boy was taken to hospital, where police said he remained in a serious condition. Police also arrested a man and a woman on suspicion of assisting an offender. All four remained in custody on Wednesday evening.
A woman whose family member owns The Lutine Bell said customers went outside in the rain to help the boy, brought him into the pub and called an ambulance. A witness said he saw three men running and fighting in the street at about 14:00. A police cordon remained outside the pub, with a tent inside the taped area. Police said officers had erected the tent because of the weather. Forensic officers examined a car on Breck Road, while the assault appeared to have taken place beside bins at the end of Rydal Street.
Detective Chief Inspector Paula Jones appealed for information from anyone near Breck Road shortly after 14:00. “We are continuing to appeal for anyone who was in the area of Breck Road shortly after 14:00 and saw, heard or captured anything to please get in touch,” she said. Jones said people who lived or worked nearby might have seen people running away. She asked them to pass on what they knew so officers could assess it.
