BUKAYO SAKA SUFFERS INJURY IN BAYERN MUNICH DRAW
Arsenal's Bukayo Saka left Wednesday's 2-2 Champions League draw with Bayern Munich after nine minutes because of an injury. Replays showed him fall without contact immediately after extending his leg to kick the ball. The match took place at the Allianz Arena in Munich. Physio Scout, an X account that assesses football injuries, said Saka hurt his left quadriceps or hip flexor while attempting to switch play.
Eberechi Eze and Declan Rice scored for Arsenal, while Alphonso Davies and Harry Kane scored for Bayern Munich. The order of the first-half goals is unclear: listed timings place Eze's goal in the 25th minute and Davies's in the 35th, while Davies is also described as the opening scorer. Kane converted a penalty in the 61st minute to put Bayern ahead. Rice equalised in the 82nd minute to secure the draw for Arsenal. Saka had already left the pitch before any of those goals.
Physio Scout said further scans would help establish how long Saka might be out. “Minor quad/hip flexor strains generally have favourable recovery timelines, although the forceful mechanism raises concerns about a potentially more significant tear,” it wrote. Figures cited for Saka's injury history suggest he missed 15 matches because of three injuries last season. That tally puts his missed games at ten fewer than in the previous campaign. Noni Madueke and Eze could take on more responsibility if Saka misses further matches.
