DEVON AND CORNWALL POLICE LAUNCH PLYMOUTH MURDER INQUIRY
Devon and Cornwall Police have launched a murder investigation after a man died in Plymouth on Wednesday, 21 October. Emergency services attended a service lane off Grand Parade in West Hoe at about 6.30am after someone discovered him with serious injuries. Paramedics treated him, but he died at the scene. Someone reportedly found him in a bin. Detectives are working to identify the man and establish the circumstances of his death.
Police are treating the death as suspicious. Officers have cordoned off parts of Grand Parade and Garden Crescent while forensic teams search the area. A red tent stood near wheelie bins behind the cordon later on Wednesday. Police said residents could expect an increased police presence while officers continue their inquiries. Detective Inspector Chris Lithgow said: “Our investigation is at an early stage but moving at a significant pace as we work to establish the circumstances surrounding this man’s death.”
Lithgow appealed to anyone who saw anything suspicious near Grand Parade and Garden Crescent between 6pm on Tuesday, 20 October, and 6.40am on Wednesday to contact police. He asked people with CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage from that period to come forward. Police said people could submit information, images or footage through the Major Incident Public Portal or the force website. Callers can also ring 101 and quote reference 50260282293.
