KNICKS UNVEIL RINGS WITH MOVING MADISON SQUARE GARDEN

THU 22 OCT 2026 US SPORTS

The New York Knicks unveiled their championship rings before their 20 October season opener against the Philadelphia 76ers at Madison Square Garden. The rings mark the team’s first NBA title in 53 years. New York won the 2026 NBA Finals against the San Antonio Spurs. Jason Arasheben, founder of Jason of Beverly Hills, designed the rings. Each ring contains a miniature Madison Square Garden that rises when its inner bezel turns.

Turning the bezel counterclockwise raises a model of the arena’s exterior, including its windows. The top also twists off to reveal a model of the lower seating bowl. Yellow gold forms its basketball court, while white gold forms the seats. A hand-enameled pattern beneath the removable top depicts the arena’s ceiling. Arasheben said of the completed mechanism: “My jaw dropped when we first finished it.”

According to Arasheben, the white gold rings weigh more than 160 grams and contain nearly 800 diamonds and sapphires totalling about 22 carats. Sixteen emerald-cut diamonds represent the Knicks’ 16 play-off victories. A 0.16-carat diamond on a representation of the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy marks their 16-point comeback in Game 5 against San Antonio. Blue sapphires behind the team logo follow a pattern inspired by the view from seats inside Madison Square Garden. Fans will also have a chance to buy a commemorative version of the ring.
