PATRICK SURTAIN II RETURNS TO BRONCOS PRACTICE

THU 22 OCT 2026 US SPORTS

Patrick Surtain II returned to Denver Broncos practice on Wednesday after an ankle injury kept him out of the team’s previous two games. The Broncos listed the cornerback as a limited participant in their first injury report of the week. Surtain injured his ankle in Denver’s Week 4 loss to the San Francisco 49ers and had missed practice since then. The Broncos are preparing to face the Arizona Cardinals in Week 7.

Rookie running back Jonah Coleman also returned to practice, with the Broncos listing him as a full participant. Coleman suffered a high ankle sprain in Denver’s Week 2 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars and missed the next four games. The Broncos designated him for return from injured reserve, opening a 21-day period in which they can activate him. Linebacker Jonathon Cooper practised with the team for the first time since coming off the Commissioner Exempt list. Cooper missed Denver’s first six games, and the Broncos have a roster exemption for him through the Cardinals game.

Outside linebacker Jonah Elliss, running back Tyler Badie and safety Talanoa Hufanga did not practise on Wednesday, according to the Broncos’ injury report. The team listed ankle injuries for Elliss and Hufanga and a thumb injury for Badie. Reporter Cody Roark described Elliss’s injury as “not season ending” in a practice update. Cornerback Riley Moss participated fully with a rib injury. Defensive lineman Zach Allen and wide receiver Jaylen Waddle were limited participants; the Broncos listed rest for Allen and a chest injury for Waddle.
