AMIN BELECHGUER RECEIVES FOUR-YEAR SENTENCE FOR DANGEROUS DRIVING
Amin Belechguer received a four-year prison sentence at Maidstone Crown Court on Wednesday after pleading guilty to 21 counts of dangerous driving. Kent Police said he filmed himself riding a Kawasaki Ninja H2R at speeds reaching 189mph across Kent, Essex and London. The force said Belechguer tried “to goad police into high-speed pursuits”. Officers arrested him after a ride towards Maidstone on 27 June 2025.
At about 10.45pm that night, officers responding to another emergency saw Belechguer riding without a registration plate on the A20 Ashford Road. Police said he pulled ahead of their vehicle, slowed down and waved at them. During a brief pursuit, he exceeded 130mph on a single carriageway with speed limits of 40mph to 60mph. He also crossed solid white lines into oncoming traffic at the blind brow of a hill, according to the force. Officers ended the pursuit because of safety risks, then deployed a stinger further along the road that punctured his tyres.
Police said Belechguer ran into roadside bushes after stopping, where officers caught him. They seized the motorcycle, which he had bought for about £19,500, along with his mobile phone and GoPro camera. Footage on the devices dated from 7 July 2024 and showed him riding at more than twice the speed limit on motorways and through town centres, according to police. The recordings also showed wheelies, red-light violations and riding on the pavement. Belechguer lives in Poynders Gardens in Clapham, London.
