A1 CRASH KILLS ERIN BENNETT BEFORE DETECTIVE TRAINING

Erin Bennett died in a crash on the A1 in Northumberland, her family said. She had recently graduated with a degree in criminology and psychology. Bennett had secured a job with Northumbria Police and was due to begin training to become a detective within weeks. Her family called it her “dream job” and said she was excited about her future.

In a statement, Bennett’s family described her as a daughter, a big sister and their “best friend”. They said her smile “lit up the room” and described her as caring and thoughtful. The family said she loved them and played a large part in family life. They also said she was loved by everyone who knew her.

Bennett’s boyfriend, Craig, called her “the light of my life” in a tribute. He said he would always hold her in his heart and told her, “I love you always and forever my love.” Northumbria Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit is conducting a full investigation to establish the circumstances of the crash. Bennett’s family said her death had “left a huge hole that can never be filled” and asked people to respect their privacy.
