LAWRENCE JOHNSON FACES MURDER CHARGE OVER ALISHA SAMUELS DEATH

WED 21 OCT 2026 CRIME

Lawrence Johnson has been charged with murdering Alisha Samuels, who was stabbed on a Manchester street on 15 October. Johnson also faces a charge of attempting to murder a man in the same attack. Samuels died at the scene on Dorking Avenue in Newton Heath after suffering serious stab wounds at around 2am. Dorking Avenue lies near the Etihad Stadium, and police have given no update on the man's condition.

Johnson, of Dorking Avenue, has been remanded in custody and is due before Manchester Magistrates' Court today. Investigators continue to examine the circumstances of Samuels's death and have asked people not to speculate about what happened. Detective Chief Inspector Justin Bryant said officers were working to provide answers to Samuels's family. Police have appealed for information from anyone who witnessed the attack or has footage from a mobile phone, CCTV camera or doorbell.

“We have now charged a man, but our investigation is not over,” Bryant said. He thanked people who had already contacted investigators and urged anyone else with information, however small, to come forward. Police have asked people to call 0161 856 5464 or submit information through the Major Incident Public Portal. People can also contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
