HOLLY HAGAN PAYS TRIBUTE TO SISTER DARCI ROSE GIBSON
Former Geordie Shore star Holly Hagan has paid tribute to her half-sister Darci Rose Gibson on the first anniversary of her death. An inquest attributed Gibson’s death to multi-organ failure and an MDMA overdose after a night out at Manchester’s Warehouse Project. Hagan shared a photograph of herself with Gibson and their mother on Instagram. She opened her message: “And just like that it’s been a year.”
Hagan wrote that medical staff checked whether Gibson’s heart was suitable for transplant and searched for a recipient. She said staff carried out two rounds of brain activity tests while her family watched and found no signs of life. Hagan said she recorded Gibson’s heartbeat on a Doppler for a bear intended for her parents and bought pyjamas for her sister to wear after donation. She also recalled photographing Gibson’s tattoos, including one that read “live where your heart finds life”.
Another tattoo’s inscription appears in two forms: “everything happens for a reason” and “Everyone happens for a reason”. Hagan said a transplant nurse told her at 10pm that everything had gone well and Gibson’s heart was on its way to the recipient. She wrote that she prayed for the recipient to live as she tried to process her sister’s death. Hagan previously said Gibson died with family and friends beside her, and thanked staff at Manchester Royal Infirmary’s A&E and intensive care unit for looking after them.
