CHRISTINA APPLEGATE SAYS MS DIAGNOSIS WAS WRONG

Christina Applegate says a doctor has told her she does not have multiple sclerosis, reversing a diagnosis she received in 2021. She described the conversation on her MeSsy podcast with co-host Jamie-Lynn Sigler. “My doctor came into my room and said, ‘Congratulations, you don’t have MS’,” Applegate said. She said others welcomed the news, but her symptoms remained. Applegate said she still does not know what has caused her illness.

Applegate has previously said her symptoms kept her in bed. She has also said she had 30 lesions in her brain. On the podcast, she said her condition had worsened and that she still uses a wheelchair when she visits the doctor. She said she cannot walk from her car to the consultation room. Applegate said her health problems had affected her mental health and caused a period of depression.

Applegate said she had lost her job and that the diagnosis had stopped her life. “Nothing magical happened when she said, 'You don't have MS.' Nothing magical happened,” she said. She said her doctors would investigate what has caused her symptoms since 2021. Applegate also said she felt she had let people down after speaking publicly about her previous diagnosis. She did not identify another diagnosis during the podcast conversation.
