ALDI RECALLS AMBIANO IONIC HAIRDRYERS OVER ELECTRIC SHOCK RISK

TUE 20 OCT 2026

Aldi has recalled its Ambiano Ionic Hairdryers, sold in August and September 2025, after a fault raised the risk of electric shock or fire. The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) said the power cord could deteriorate over time, exposing live parts or causing the appliance to overheat. It said users who touched an exposed live part could receive an electric shock. The OPSS rated the electric shock risk as high and said Aldi had recalled the hairdryers from customers.

The recall covers model 849855 in black, white, yellow and orange. The corresponding barcodes are 4061462195075, 4061462195211, 4061462195310 and 4061462195372, respectively. Customers who have discarded the packaging can find the barcode on the underside of the hairdryer, according to the recall information. The OPSS said the product did not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.

The OPSS instructed customers to stop using affected hairdryers immediately and take them to their nearest Aldi store for a full refund. Aldi said its supplier had initiated the recall as a precaution because of a technical fault. “We apologise for any inconvenience caused,” Aldi said. Aldi sells the hairdryers through its Specialbuy range, which also includes toys, camping equipment, home décor and appliances.
