LIDL US RECALLS GELATO AFTER LISTERIA TEST RESULT
Lidl US recalled one lot of Gelatelli Coffee & Vanilla Gelato with Coffee Sauce & Cookie Pieces after routine testing detected Listeria monocytogenes in a laboratory sample. The recall, announced on 16 October, covers 16-ounce containers sold from 19 July to 15 October 2026. Lidl US told customers not to eat the affected gelato. The company said it had received no reports of illness linked to the product. Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious infections, particularly in young children, older people, pregnant women and people with weakened immune systems.
The US Food and Drug Administration identified the affected containers by a best-before date of 26 March 2028 and lot number 085261. Their full UPC is 4 0564897 22458, with the identifying details printed on the bottom. The gelato comes in clear plastic packaging with a brown lid. Lidl US distributed the affected lot to stores in Delaware, Georgia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Virginia. Stores in Washington, DC, also sold it.
Lidl US urged customers to throw the gelato away or return it to their nearest Lidl store for a full refund. Customers do not need a receipt to obtain the refund. “The health and safety of our customers is our top priority,” the company said. Lidl US described the recall as voluntary and said its Quality Assurance Department continually checks products against its standards. The recall applies to the identified lot of the coffee and vanilla gelato.
