PATRIOTS PLACE ROMEO DOUBS ON INJURED RESERVE
The New England Patriots announced on Monday that they had placed receiver Romeo Doubs on injured reserve after he hurt his shoulder in Sunday’s win over the New York Jets. Doubs sustained the injury while making a diving, 42-yard touchdown catch in the first quarter. The Patriots won 26-19. Doubs will miss at least four games, with Week 12 against the Los Angeles Chargers the earliest he could return. New England face the Chicago Bears on Thursday.
The Patriots signed Doubs to a four-year deal this off-season after he played for the Green Bay Packers. In his first season with New England, he leads the team with 261 receiving yards and shares its lead with three receiving touchdowns, all from passes by Drake Maye. Receiver A.J. Brown returned on Sunday after missing four games with a high ankle sprain. Brown caught three passes for 27 yards from 10 targets against the Jets. Mack Hollins had earlier gone on injured reserve with a calf injury following the Patriots’ game against the Buffalo Bills.
“We’ll just have to figure out who we have available and find 48 to put out there,” Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel said after Sunday’s game. He said the short interval before the Bears game made it difficult to know which players would be available. The Patriots also added defensive back Elliott Davison to their 53-man roster. They signed receiver Ryan Miller, offensive lineman Jacob Rizy and guard Andrew Rupcich to their practice squad, and released cornerback D’Shawn Jamison from it. Miller caught three passes and scored one touchdown in five games for the Miami Dolphins before his release last week.
