CHARLOTTE HORNETS AGREE $209M EXTENSION WITH BRANDON MILLER

TUE 20 OCT 2026 US SPORTS

The Charlotte Hornets and Brandon Miller have agreed a five-year, $209 million contract extension, Miller’s representatives said. The agreement came ahead of the deadline for rookie-scale extensions for players selected in the 2023 NBA draft. Charlotte selected Miller second overall in that draft, one place after the San Antonio Spurs chose Victor Wembanyama. Miller, a forward, received All-Rookie honours after the 2023-24 season.

Recorded figures for last season put Miller’s averages at 20.2 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists across 65 games. Injuries restricted him to 27 games in the previous season. His recorded averages in those games were 21 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.6 assists in 34.2 minutes. Charlotte finished last season with a 44-38 record, according to the season tally. The Hornets reached the Eastern Conference play-in tournament.

Charlotte dealt away LaMelo Ball and Miles Bridges during the offseason. The Hornets have identified Miller and Kon Knueppel as central players in their younger group. Miller’s agreement is the second-largest rookie extension reported this offseason, behind Wembanyama’s deal. Its reported value narrowly exceeds Amen Thompson’s $208 million extension.
