U&GOLD COMMISSIONS MORE ONLY FOOLS AND HORSES ARCHIVE EPISODES
U&Gold has commissioned a second two-part series of Only Fools and Horses: The Lost Archive, according to broadcaster UKTV. The new instalments will feature more than 30 previously unseen clips from the comedy series. UKTV announced the commission as the first of two previously announced compilations was due to air. The new selection includes footage from Time On Our Hands. In that episode, Del and Rodney became millionaires; UKTV says it drew a record 24.3 million viewers when it aired in 1996.
UKTV says both archive series include new interviews with cast and crew. Sir David Jason, Tessa Peake-Jones and Gwyneth Strong are among those interviewed. Helen Nightingale, UKTV’s head of factual entertainment commissioning, said the first series focuses on about ten episodes. That series also features an extended scene from the Jolly Boys Outing episode.
Nightingale said the first selection had “barely scratched the surface of unseen footage” from Only Fools and Horses. She said the second series would offer more insight into the work involved in making the comedy. Emma Tibbetts, UKTV’s director of scripted programming, called the newly selected material “a comedic goldmine”. Tibbetts said the scenes would show how Sir David Jason and other cast members reacted to their discovery.
