CENTRAL METHODIST SUSPENDS SIX PLAYERS AFTER ALLEGED TEAMMATE ASSAULT
Central Methodist University has suspended six members of its American football team after an alleged assault on a teammate in Fayette, Missouri. The university said the altercation happened on 9 October 2026. The injured player had reportedly arrived late to practice before the confrontation with other team members. According to the university, the student-athlete suffered injuries and received treatment at an urgent care facility.
Kamarrion Ferguson, a Central Methodist University player, faces a third-degree assault charge in connection with the case. Michael Hourel Jr., another player, also faces a third-degree assault charge. The allegations centre on a fighting arrangement that players reportedly used to enforce discipline within the team. Central Methodist University said the arrangement was not an official rule of its football programme.
The university said its investigation into the circumstances of the alleged assault was continuing. Investigators are seeking to establish who created the reported fighting arrangement. They are also examining whether anyone else knew about it, according to the university. Central Methodist University said the six players would remain suspended from the football programme indefinitely while the investigation continued.
