MANCHESTER UNITED EXTEND WINLESS RUN WITH LEEDS DRAW
Manchester United drew 1-1 with Leeds United at Elland Road in the Premier League, extending their winless run to six matches in all competitions. Bryan Mbeumo gave United the lead 10 minutes before half-time after collecting a pass from Youri Tielemans and getting past James Justin. Dominic Calvert-Lewin equalised shortly after the break, reaching a loose ball after Tarik Muharemovic met a Leeds corner. The result left Michael Carrick’s side 13th in the Premier League table.
Bruno Fernandes and Leeds defender Gabriel Gudmundsson received yellow cards for late challenges early in the match. United goalkeeper Senne Lammens saved a shot from Nico Elvedi before Mbeumo missed a free header at the other end. Carrick replaced Lisandro Martinez at half-time, and Leny Yoro later made a run that gave Fernandes another opening. Fernandes sent a separate chance wide, while Leeds midfielder Anton Stach struck a first-time effort over the crossbar. Noussair Mazraoui made a tackle in stoppage time as both sides sought a winning goal.
Leeds remained seventh, three points ahead of Manchester United, after the draw. Leeds have remained unbeaten at Elland Road in all competitions since March. United’s six-match run without a win is their longest since the end of the 2018-19 season. Manchester United had entered the match seeking their first win of that run against their long-time rivals.
