MANCHESTER CITY BEAT IPSWICH AS MARESCA REPORTS INJURY CONCERNS

SUN 18 OCT 2026 FOOTBALL

Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca said Erling Haaland told him he was okay after the forward limped off following City’s 3-2 Premier League win over Ipswich Town. Haaland scored twice in the home victory but appeared to be in discomfort at full-time. Maresca praised his side after the match and said he had spoken to Haaland about the apparent injury. “I asked him and he said he was okay so hopefully it is nothing serious,” Maresca said. “We will see. I don’t have any news at the moment.”

Haaland scored once in each half as City took a lead Ipswich could not overturn. He also struck a late volley into the net, but a VAR check ruled out the goal because Enzo Fernandez was offside. The decision prevented Haaland from completing a hat-trick. Maresca said Mateo Kovacic, Matheus Nunes and Nico O’Reilly came off during the match with physical problems. Substitute Antoine Semenyo also walked gingerly off the pitch at full-time.

Maresca said several City players developed problems within 10 minutes of the match. He said Kovacic had told him he was okay when he asked the players about their condition. O’Reilly still had the back problem that affected him against Coventry, Maresca said. City still needed to wait for news on Semenyo’s condition, according to Maresca.
