BOY SUFFERS STAB WOUND AT MANCHESTER ARNDALE CAR PARK

SUN 18 OCT 2026 CRIME

A 14-year-old boy was taken to hospital with serious injuries after a stabbing at Manchester Arndale’s multi-storey car park on Saturday, Greater Manchester Police said. Officers received a call at about 3.15pm on 17 October and found the boy on the ninth level. Police said his injuries were consistent with a stab wound. They said they did not expect the injuries to be life-threatening or life-changing.

Police believe the boy had argued with other males before the stabbing. A shop worker said the events followed a suspected shoplifting incident inside the Arndale Centre, but police had not confirmed that account. People ran from the shopping centre towards the car park, according to accounts from people at the scene. One witness said: “Staff went running after them. I think security went into the car park and people ended up stabbed.”

Armed officers attended the scene, and police vehicles were seen on High Street, Withy Grove and Dantzic Street. Paramedics used a lift to reach the upper floors of the car park. The ninth level remained closed late on Saturday night. Greater Manchester Police had made no arrests in connection with the stabbing and said its enquiries were continuing. Police had not confirmed accounts that more than one person was hurt.
