KAMAL RECEIVES PRISON SENTENCE FOR ANN SUMMERS BURGLARY

SAT 17 OCT 2026 CRIME

Jason Kamal received a three-year prison sentence at Nottingham Crown Court on Thursday after admitting six counts of burglary. He and Ashley Hillsley broke into the Ann Summers store on Long Row, Nottingham, on 14 August, according to Nottinghamshire Police. Police said the pair smashed a window and took products valued at £12,059, including underwear and sex toys. Officers caught them as they tried to run away within minutes of a call about the burglary shortly after 4.30am.

Kamal and Hillsley wore high-visibility vests during the break-in. Officers found the Ann Summers products in the boot of Hillsley’s car. Kamal initially denied entering the store, but CCTV footage showed his face. Hillsley, from Mansfield, said someone had “bullied” him into taking part and promised him a large sum of money. He said his role was to watch for others and assist.

Police also investigated Kamal, who had no fixed abode, over a burglary at Professional Mobile, an electronics store in Arnold, on 28 July. They said he left a vape containing his DNA at the shop and used a mobile phone stolen from it. The account put the value of the stolen electronics at £13,000. Chief Inspector Kylie Davies of Nottinghamshire Police said: “All the evidence pointed to them where they had no other option than plead guilty to the offence at court.” Kamal’s three-year sentence covered both burglaries.
