The College Football Playoff is nearing a deal to expand its field to 24 teams, according to reports. The expansion would take effect from 2027. Conferences are reportedly close to finalising the agreement, which could more than double the current size of the playoff field. One report said the change could bring an end to conference championship games as currently structured.
