ALEX SCOTT STEPS DOWN FROM DISNEY+ CHAMPIONS LEAGUE ROLE

THU 15 OCT 2026

Alex Scott has stepped down as a presenter of Disney+'s coverage of the Women's Champions League. It is understood the decision was Scott's own, taken so she can concentrate on other projects. Disney+ said in a statement that it wished to thank her for her contribution, saying her passion for the women's game had shone through during her time with the broadcaster. The company said it was grateful for all she had contributed and wished her every success. Scott had fronted the platform's coverage of the competition since Disney acquired the broadcast rights in 2025, and her exit comes after two rounds of matches this season.

Disney's production of the competition was criticised after the opening round of fixtures this season, when a series of technical problems affected the broadcast. Among them was an unscheduled advert break that interrupted the second half of Arsenal's 1-0 win over HB Køge for more than three minutes, according to reports. One report quoted Scott as saying she had not agreed with all of the decisions taken over the coverage's format this season. Scott, a former England and Arsenal defender, has also appeared as a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing and I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!. She has presented BBC sports coverage including the 2020 Olympics, and fronted Football Focus for five seasons before the programme closed this year.

Scott's representatives said she was grateful for the opportunities she had at Disney+ and hoped the two would continue working together in future. She is now focusing on One More Word WSL, a women's football show she launched through her own production company, First Cap Productions Limited, at the start of this season's Women's Super League campaign. She presents it alongside fellow former England internationals Anita Asante and Fara Williams. Scott has said the show was created in response to the BBC's decision to cancel its weekly WSL highlights programme. She said this month that there was always an excuse made about women's football shows not working, whether blamed on viewing figures or the need to save money.
