KAI TRUMP HAS WRIST SURGERY AFTER COLLEGE GOLF INJURY

WED 14 OCT 2026 GOLF

Kai Trump, a University of Miami golfer and granddaughter of President Donald Trump, has undergone wrist surgery after re-aggravating an existing injury during her first collegiate tournament. She announced the operation on Instagram from the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, saying she had hoped to avoid a further procedure. Trump said she decided to proceed after discussions with her family, coaches and athletic training staff. She described the move as the best decision for her long-term health and future in golf.

The injury flared during Trump's collegiate debut at the 2026 Golfweek Fall Classic, held at Caledonia Golf & Fish Club in Pawleys Island, South Carolina. Competing as an individual for the Miami Hurricanes in a field of 120 players, she carded rounds of 78, 76 and 81 to finish 22 over par, tying for 102nd place. In a video shared on social media, Trump said the wrist problem worsened after she struck the ground near a cart path during the tournament. The event had marked her first appearance in collegiate golf as a freshman.

Trump said her recovery would not proceed as she had originally envisioned but that she intended to approach it with patience. She thanked those supporting her through the process, saying she was "incredibly fortunate" to be surrounded by people who continued to encourage her. "Having the right people by your side makes all the difference," she wrote. No timetable for her return to competitive golf has been given.
