WOMAN DIES AFTER THREE-VEHICLE CRASH ON DEVON ROAD
A woman has died after a three-vehicle collision on the A381 in Halwell, near Totnes, Devon, police have said. Devon and Cornwall Police said emergency services were called just before 8pm on Tuesday to a crash involving a black Perodua Myvi, a blue Skoda Kamiq and a white Hyundai i30. A local woman driving the Perodua died at the scene, the force said. The driver of the Skoda was taken to hospital and remains in a critical condition, police said. The driver of the Hyundai, a local man, was arrested for failing to provide a preliminary drugs test, according to the force.
Police said the arrested man is being treated in hospital for minor injuries. The force said the families of the woman who died and of the Skoda driver have been informed. The road was closed overnight for investigators to examine the scene, before reopening shortly after 1pm on Wednesday, police said. Devon and Cornwall Police's Roads Policing Team thanked the public for their patience during the closure.
Devon and Cornwall Police said they are appealing for witnesses and footage to assist their investigation into the collision. The force asked anyone with relevant information, including dashcam footage, to contact officers through its website or by calling 101, quoting a reference number. Police said the investigation into the circumstances of the crash is continuing. No further detail about how the collision happened has yet been released by the force.
